Your data in race results
RaceWiser reads the results that race timers publish, so that each athlete can see how they raced. Here is what we take, what we keep, and how to be left out.
Where the results come from
The public results pages of these timers. Every race page links its source.
We read only where a site allows it (its robots.txt and any text-and-data-mining reservation).
What we keep, and what we don't
- For each finisher: bib, gender, age group, club, finish status, split and finish times.
- Names are never stored. We keep a keyed fingerprint of the name and birth year, used only to offer an athlete their own races once they sign in. Another athlete is never named on RaceWiser.
- No athlete under 18, and no para race: those results are not read in.
- A result removed from the timer's page is removed here the next time we read it.
- Results are kept for ten years after the race, for the comparisons with past editions.
Why
So that an athlete can read their race against its field, its conditions and its past editions. The legal basis is RaceWiser's legitimate interest in offering that analysis; you can object to it at any time, below.
