Who is responsible

RaceWiser is the controller of the data described here. Write to privacy@racewiser.com for anything about your data. The company's registration details are on the legal notice.

Two kinds of people, two kinds of data

Every finisher of a race we read, account or not: the results their race's timer published. And account holders: what they give us to use RaceWiser.

Race results

  • Source. The public results pages of Altichrono, Taktik Sport, Chronowest, Eventicom and Pyrénées Chrono, read only where their robots.txt and any text-and-data-mining reservation allow it. Each race page links its source.
  • What is kept. Bib, gender, age group, club, finish status, split and finish times. Names are read to compute a keyed fingerprint of the name and birth year (a pseudonym, still personal data) and are never stored. Nobody else's name is ever shown on RaceWiser.
  • What is not. Athletes under 18 and para races are not read in. A result removed from the timer's page is removed here the next time the page is read.
  • Why, and on what basis. To let each athlete read their race against its field, its conditions and its past editions, and to offer them their own races when they sign in. The basis is our legitimate interest (GDPR art. 6(1)(f)), weighed against yours: no names, no profiles of people without an account, no marketing to them, and a one-step way out.
  • How long. Ten years after the race, for the comparisons with past editions; then deleted.
  • Your way out. The removal form needs no account: your results go, and a fingerprint of your name and birth year keeps them from coming back.

Your account

  • What. Your email; your name and picture if you sign in with Strava or Google; your birth year, set from your own results; the races you claim and the reports you read; your plan if you pay.
  • Why. To run your account and your reports (performance of our contract with you, art. 6(1)(b)).
  • Emails. Sign-in links when you ask for one. Race news (a race of yours is in, the week of a race you've run) only once your name and birth year are confirmed, never with an offer, and stopped from your profile or the link in each email.
  • How long. Until you delete your account, then 30 days in backups. Payment records are kept as accounting law requires.

Who processes data for us

  • Upsun (Platform.sh SAS), hosting and database (Switzerland (ch-1)), and its email relay.
  • Stripe, payments (only if you pay).
  • Google and Strava, only when you choose to sign in with them.
  • Plausible Analytics, audience measurement without cookies or personal data.

No data is sold, and nothing is shared for advertising.

Cookies

One session cookie keeps you signed in; nothing else is stored in your browser for tracking.

Your rights

Access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection (GDPR art. 15–21). An access request is answered with the source of each result we hold. Write to privacy@racewiser.com; we answer within a month. You can also complain to the CNIL, cnil.fr.
